SPEAKING TEST - DESCRIBING A PICTURE

Remember the steps to follow to describe a picture...

1. INTRODUCE the picture/topic using expressions such as:
  • The photo/ picture shows...
  • It was taken by /in....
  • It´s a black-and-white/coloured photo
    
2. LOCATE the different items in the photo using:


  • In the foreground/ background you can see..../there is...
  • In the middle/centre there are / I can see....
  • At the top/At the bottom there is....
  • On the left/ right there is....
  • Behind/ In front of... you can see...
  • Between...there is....

3. WHO ARE THEY? WHAT ARE THEY DOING? Describe the people in the picture (use physical descriptions and describe the clothes they are wearing) and say what is happening (use the present continuous am/is/are + verb-ing).


4. PERSONAL OPINION
Express your personal opinion. You can use the expressions below: 

  • It seems as if....
  • The lady seems to...
  • Maybe...
  • I think...
  • I wonder....
  • I like / don´t like the picture because....
  • The atmosphere is relaxing/ depressing

5. AND PRACTISE AS MUCH AS YOU CAN!!
